Well, not dry land, but at the very least unsubmerged land. So Ford sets Yoshiki down, though he opts to keep a wary eye on him for the time being.

A normal person would, at this point, offer some sort of comfort or reassurance. Yoshiki is clearly just a kid, who's clearly just gone through a pretty stressful and traumatic experience. Hell, Ford even had to deal with chasing after the phantom of his brother himself not too long enough. He has firsthand knowledge of how rough that whole situation must be.

I suspect it may be some sort of siren, given how it's trying to lure us to the water with visions of what we want.
