This is a satisfactory explanation and Reyson immediately cools off.

He makes another turn on instinct. It looks like plenty of other people live here, there are balconies with chairs and flowerpots.

"I'm well known in Goldoa for my part in a similar tragedy. Their prince had been driven mad, and my sister and I sang him back into his right mind after he had been fatally injured. He was able to bid farewell to his family. If I had been strong enough to face him during the battle itself, it might have been a happier tale... but if I had not been there at all, it would be far worse."

He knows how it is with dragons. Siegfried looks as if he did not need a full army to deal with one. He seems like the type to honorably face a foe on the frontlines.
