"My home hasn't existed as I recall for a thousand years,"
He said quietly, thinking of his son and his wife. Both were long dead, he was sure-- and his heart ached for the struggles he had caused Kriemhild to endure.
"I sealed my own fate in a wilderness far from here, on a different continent... And I suspect a different time. It may not sound like much, but by all rights I should not even be standing until I'm called again."
A sigh. He didn't know how to make an explanation of his circumstances any simpler.
"Perhaps, we should both make the best of what we're given? I have never felt so..." he trailed, glancing at the people around them that were decidedly not even paying attention. "So unnoticed before."
